YR 6 SATs

As we all know, the Year 6’s will be sitting their SATs tests next week. This is your opportunity to ask any maths or grammar questions which can be answered by myself (Miss Pepler) or your friends.

Miss Wortley and I are hugely proud of how hard you have all been working and how sensible and calm you have been in the run up to your SATs. Keep up the good work!!

Fairtrade Café

An enormous thank you to all the children who donated money for last Friday’s Fairtrade Café! The money has been counted and, as a school, we have raised a total of £278.25!

Here are some pictures of Year 3 enjoying their Fairtrade snacks.

Rugby Tournament Report – By Tiago

  Rugby report

On the 20th of October, year 5 and 6 went to Banbury rugby club to play rugby. They were split up into 3 teams, A, B and C. There were 22 teams from 10 schools who went.

A, team 1, was yellow which was Katie, Caiomhe, Jake W, Niamh, Darragh, Akin, Sophie and Tadiwa. B, team 2, was green, which were Alfie, Pearce, Jake A, Jessica, Amelia, Matthew, Erica and Daisy.     C, team 3, was blue, which were Lilly, Lewis, Luke, Gabby, Christina, William and Phoebe.

The first match I watched was team A which had Tadi ‘the rocket’.

The second team, team C, did great, especially William. The third team, team B, put in a great performance and had ‘Daisy Dash’. Then we watched team A again, Jake and Tadi scored some fantastic tries.

Darragh was brilliant at organising the strategies. Team B finished 4th in their group, Team A finished 1st in their group. Team B played again and won group D. Team A won group A and qualified for the North Oxfordshire partnership finals!

They showed excellent sportsmanship and always handed their tags back politely at the end of all the matches.

Healthy Smoothies!

As part of healthy-eating week, year 5/6 have been making healthy smoothies and researching the health benefits of their ingredients.

Which ingredients have you found to have the best benefits and what are they?

Planting competition in People’s Park

Today year 5/6 spent the day in People’s Park, with thirteen other schools, designing and planting our own flower bed. The design had to fit the theme of ‘The Queen’s 90th Birthday’ so we based our design around things that the Queen likes.

When we had finished planting, all of the flower beds were judged by the Mayor of Banbury and …….. WE WON! St. John’s were awarded the prize for first place in the planting category!

Well done to all the children in year 5/6 who worked so hard today. A special well done to Ciara who designed our centerpiece and to Louis and Rio who wowed the judges with their charming explanation of our design.

I am very proud of you all!
